Notes on Rules

We play by USGA rules for all events. This is tournament golf. That means all putts must be holed out and the ball is played as it lies. To help speed up pace of play make sure that you hit a provisional ball when necessary. Keep your score cards legible. Illegible cards may have to be disqualified. If there is ever a question on an rules interpretation, hit an optional second ball, and come back to the club house at the end of your most current nine holes with members of your group to get a ruling by the course professional. All laser and GPS sighting devices are allowed in our tournaments. If there are any local rules that we are playing in our tournament they will be printed up and placed for distribution on the registration desk. Please take just one copy of the printed local rules per foursome and make sure they are read by your entire foursome before the tournament starts. Occasionally the weather will be such that we will have to play with a "lift, clean, and replace rule" and this will either be announced at the beginning of each shotgun start or be printed up with the local rules. It is your individual responsibility to have an understanding of all local rules before you start play. If you see someone not playing by what you consider the rules of golf please report this to one of the IESGA officers. That player will have a chance to give his "side of the story", but ultimately the board will make a decision in accordance with USGA The Rules Of Golf 2012-2013 and/or the published printed local rules. We have rulebooks for all players that will be available at the registration table at the first few tournaments of the year, and if you need one, please see, call, or email Lee Spencer.

Notes on Entries, Due Dates, and Tee Times

To Get Your Tee Time: Go to our web site: www.iesga.com..  You can get tee times, information, scores, skins results, applications, bylaws and much more. Tee times are generally posted the Saturday morning before the tournament. If you can’t get your tee time from the internet then call the course where the tournament will be played.  Should you need to withdraw from a tournament please call Lee Spencer at 991-3063 to withdraw and Jack Lawson at 990-0278 for a refund.  Please note that late withdraws cause problems for your foursome and scheduling.  Also, we will definitely not be accepting late entries, the due date will be strictly enforced.

Basic Prizes (included in your $15 entry fee)

The IESGA sponsors the Team Best Ball awards with $100/event for the winning team.

FROM THE HANDICAP CHAIRMAN'S DESK

The IESGA has a special formula and program to calculate and maintain a handicap index for all of the IESGA members. The scores used to calculate the handicaps are the adjusted scores posted in IESGA tournaments ONLY. An average of the 3 lowest differential scores of the last 5 rounds, adjusted at 96%, are used in determining a members handicap index.

Differential scores are computed by subtracting the adjusted gross score from the USGA Course Rating multiply the difference by 113 then divide the resulting number by the USGA Slope Rating of the course played and round the final number to the nearest tenth.

After every tournament the scores are posted and all handicaps are recalculated with a new handicap index number. Prior to the next tournament, your handicap index number will be converted to a Course Handicap for the course you will be playing.

All new members will establish an IESGA handicap after playing 3 rounds. If a new member has a verifiable USGA Handicap index, his GHIN number will be used for the first 3 rounds, If a new member does not have a handicap the Callaway Scoring System will be used for the first 3 rounds. All new members must establish an IESGA handicap to be eligible to WIN the Club Championship, but everyone may play in the tournament.

New members using the Callaway Scoring System will not be placed in one of the 4 flights and therefore will not be eligible for the closest to the pin award. Your handicap will be calculated after the round using the Callaway System, a formula sheet will be attached to the scorecard to aid in calculating your handicap for that tournament.

Team Best Ball:  Each foursome is eligible for a team best ball score. Your handicap and flight will be indicated on each scorecard and corresponding dots placed on the holes you receive a stroke. CHECK IT! These strokes (dots) are used to calculate the net best ball score for that hole and recorded at the bottom of the scorecard. If it is not filled out, your team will not be counted in the best ball. Because of the team best ball, advice may be exchanged between players of your foursome without penalty. Rule 8-1.

The IESGA does not have access to the USGA handicap system so all members who carry a GHIN must enter your score and designate it as a tournament score.
