INLAND EMPIRE SENIOR’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

MEETING AT THE NORTHERN QUEST CASINO

 

 

Following the 7:00 pm dinner president Don Kolb opened the meeting at 7:50. Present were board members Don Cagle, Mike Kobluk, Erv Korff, John Simpson, Wayne Livengood and Rick Itami, past president Ken Degerman, tournament chairman Lee Spencer, handicap chairman Chuck Sylvas, secretary treasurer Mel Hamilton  80 members and 66 guests.  He then introduced the past presidents in attendance, Sam Rizzuto 98’, Mel Hamilton 99’,
Bill Adams 2000 and 01’, George Stevens 2006 and Duane Beamer 2007. 

Presentation of minutes:  Mel Hamilton reviewed minutes from the August 25, 2009 board meeting held at The Creek at Qualchan golf course.

 The meeting was well attended with all but one board member and officers present.  Mark Gardner, PGA pro from Qualchan gave a review of the “first tee” program in our area and explained a charter to the national first tee in pending. He said the first tee helps young people in golf and citizenship skills. 
Following Mr. Gardner, Mel Hamilton explained the IESGA had received an anonymous donation of $500 for the First Tee.  Pete Fortin then moved
to have the IESGA match the $500, Mike Kobluk seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Don Kolb then introduced Larry Bikelhaupt and explained that he and Phil Thompson were invited to the meeting to discuss our liability insurance.  Mr. Bikelhaupt said that he had 30 years experience as a insurance underwriter and pointed out the shortcoming in our policy.  Phil Thompson emphasized
the importance of covering any lawyer expenses should we have a problem. 

The board also discussed and approved the tentative tournament schedule for 2010.  They also approved the appointment of Les Harris, Greg Jones
and Phil Thompson as board members and Bob Woody as president for 2010 and Mike Kobluk as vice president.  The meeting adjourned at 11:15 AM.
 
The minutes report was approved on a motion by Charlie Parfrey and seconded by Ken Degerman and passed.

 

President Kolb then had the new officers stand and be recognized.

 

Mel Hamilton presented a balance sheet report showing an estimated year end balance of $392.78 George Stevens moved to approve the treasurer’s
report Phil Thompson seconded the motion and it passed.

 

 

Chuck Sylvas then gave a report on the new handicapping software he uses and explained how handicaps are calculated.  Chuck also reviewed how he is welcomed by the golf course personnel who appreciate how well the IESGA is organized.

 

President Kolb mentioned that our Ladies Chairperson, Joan Rogers was out of town and unable to be here.

 

Lee Spencer and Don Kolb then presented plaques to the tournament champions.

Fourth flight net Calvin “Bus Hudlow, fourth flight gross John Boots, third flight net George Sparks and third flight gross Dale Willis,
second flight net Ray Boehm and second flight gross Howard Braham

and first flight net Ken Heydon and first flight gross Ken Gustafson.  Absent were Braham, Boehm and Gustafson.  It was mentioned that flight
champions receive free dues for the following year. 

Hole in one plaques were presented to John Perry and Doug Kilburn.

 

Door prizes were then awarded by drawing tickets from the respective boxes.

 

Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 PM.
